With social media / bloggers this requires a lot more than database searches for the right contact. It means following their journeys, understanding what's going on in their lives (as it's reported in their blogs). You actually have to read the blogs. Time consuming? Yes. Interesting? Absolutely. Not ready for it? Then don't go there.

Disney invites Jewish Mommybloggers to an event over Passover & a PR firm sends Jewish bloggers Easter Brunch recipes. PR FAIL. The PR firm handled the gaffe well. Disney? Not so much.

When media send you this in response to a pitch, it's time to rethink your strategy: "Human Resources called, they want their diversity training back."
